Eva Markvoort’s Legacy: To Increase The Availability Of Organs For Patients In Need And To Support Research For Cystic Fibrosis
I am writing this post today to help honor the wishes of Eva Markvoort, a young woman who had a mission to increase the availability of organs for patients in need and to support research for cystic fibrosis. Eva Markvoort knew how to live life well despite her battle with the debilitating respiratory symptoms associated with cystic fibrosis. Her friends and family describe her as a fun loving, very energetic, and extremely creative soul who knew how to celebrate the essence of life and who fearlessly embraced new opportunities with an unbridled enthusiasm.
Book Review And Interview: Gluten-Free Cakes From Around The World By Pat Browne
I just received a new cookbook, “Gluten-Free Cakes From Around The World”. I really enjoyed this book and liked the cultural aspect of the recipes. This book offers a collection of cake recipes from cultures that naturally make gluten-free cakes for a variety of reasons.
Thank You Dr. Wangen For Coming To New Westminister, British Columbia And Speaking About Gluten Intolerance
Dr. Stephen Wangen came to New Westminister last Sunday, February 13th, 2011 to speak about gluten intolerance. Dr. Wangen gave a very informative talk and shared his views about gluten intolerance, some information about diagnostic practices and his views around follow-up care. Throughout his presentation, he shared many studies with the group, a number of case examples, and I really liked the way he explained everything to the participants with an easy to understand approach that everyone seemed to enjoy. He has a very good sense of humour too!
Update: Canadian Proposed Food Allergen/Gluten Labelling Regulations Moving Forward With Exemption For The Brewer’s Industry
According to CBC News, the Canadian Food Allergen/Gluten Labelling Regulations are moving forward and should hopefully should be in effect within 18 months. This is great news, however, there is still a concern with brewed products since an exemption is currently being made for the brewer’s industry. For more information, click on the following link to view the article, “Stricter Food Label Rules Target Allergens”.
